So, to help you, we would like to share answers to commonly asked questions about wisdom teeth removal. Some questions include:

Question No. 1: Why do I need to remove my wisdom teeth?

Answer: Wisdom teeth usually cause more harm than good, especially because they can become impacted, they can affect and infect the surrounding teeth and they can even cause dental problems in the future, especially because they are very tough to clean.

Question No. 2: Will I be awake during treatment?

Answer: It depends on your situation. If your wisdom teeth will be tougher to remove, you will likely be asleep during the treatment. If your wisdom teeth will be easy and simple to remove, you will likely be awake with a dental sedative and anesthetic to keep you calm and comfortable. Be sure to have someone drive you home after treatment.

Question No. 3: How long is recovery following wisdom teeth removal?

Answer: It typically takes three to seven days to recover after surgery. We will give you aftercare instructions.

Question No. 4: Will removing my wisdom teeth help my braces or will removal adhere my orthodontic treatment?

Answer: Wisdom teeth removal often depends on where you are at in your treatment. Removing them before orthodontic care can create more space for tooth adjustments as well as prevent impacted wisdom teeth. As mentioned before, this can lead to painful infections which can be very irritating while wearing braces. If you remove them during treatment, this again allows for more room. Removal after orthodontic treatment should cause no issues since your smile has been evaluated and your teeth placed in the correct positions. Be sure to wear your retainer to prevent any movement!
